Over the years, the RBC Royal Bank Ottawa Bluesfest has continued to maintain its position as one of the landmark events of summertime in Ottawa. Since its launch in 1994, the festival has become one of Canada’s fastest growing outdoor festivals, bringing in tourists from across North America. What first began as a one-stage, three-day event quickly grew to a multi-stage, two-week-long festival.
Despite the festival’s name, Bluesfest strives to cater to diverse crowds, featuring acts from a variety of musical genres. In recent years, they have showed their understanding for the evolving trends in music, particularly through their inclusion of various electronic music acts.
While the Bluesfest 2014 lineup is still unraveling, we’d like to bring your attention to a few big names that have been added to the roster thus far. Trance and progressive house DJ/producer Gareth Emery will be taking to the stage on July 8. Canadian dubstep duo Adventure Club will get crowds bouncing on July 3, along with Los Angeles native RL Grime. Last, but certainly not least, electro house global icon Zedd will be awing audiences on July 4.
Big shout out to the RBC Bluesfest for recognizing the value and significance of dance music among today’s musical landscape. We’re excited to see what other electronic music artists you’ll add to the lineup. The 2014 RBC Ottawa Bluesfest will be happening July 3-13 at the Lebreton Flats. You can check out what other musical acts will be joining Gareth Emery, Adventure Club, RL Grime, and Zedd by viewing the lineup here.
